Sozopol council is collecting household hazardous waste this November. Residents can hand it in for free.

It takes expired or unused medicines, paints, varnishes and solvents, plant protection products, batteries, car batteries and mercury thermometers. It also accepts other hazardous substances from the home.

The waste will go for safe treatment and recycling, in line with environmental rules.

The council urges residents to take part. It says that handing in this waste separately protects nature, keeps towns and villages clean and safeguards people's health.

The campaign is part of the council's ongoing work for a cleaner environment. It also aims to help people learn more about environmental issues.
