Sozopol: No Alcohol in the Blood of Those Killed in the Accident

The results of the alcohol tests for those killed in the tragic accident near Sozopol are now known. The three young people who lost their lives in the incident did not consume alcohol before the accident. This was announced to NOVA by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Burgas.

The results of the drug tests, which are being processed in the laboratory of the Military Medical Academy (MMA) in Sofia, are also expected to be ready. The investigation continues with full force, seeking answers to all the questions that this cruel tragedy poses.

We remind you that the incident occurred on October 17 at around 11:15 pm. On the road between Sozopol and Chernomorets, in the area of the 19th kilometer, a car with Varna registration left the roadway. This was followed by a collision with a roadside tree, after which the car hit another tree sideways. The atmosphere at the scene after the incident was filled with tension and sadness.

Three young people lost their lives in this accident. One of the boys is a 17-year-old German citizen living in Sozopol. Another boy, also 17 years old, from the village of Gabar, died later in the hospital in Burgas. The driver, 18-year-old Yordan Nikolov from the Sozopol village of Zidarovo, also did not survive. The sad irony is that Yordan's first driver's license was issued only a day before the tragedy.

Today it became clear that Yordan Nikolov's driving instructor will be sanctioned with 1000 leva. The reason is that he conducted the night driving lessons of the young driver in the afternoon hours of the day. Obviously, there were omissions in the training, which are now the subject of further investigation.

"There was an omission during the training. The time for night driving was given in June at 5:00 pm, which is not in the dark part of the day," commented the executive director of the "Automobile Administration" Agency, Slav Monov. His words emphasize the need for strict adherence to the rules for training drivers and strict control over them.
