A fatal collision on the Struma highway claimed the life of an elderly driver

A fatal traffic accident shook the section of the Struma highway towards Dupnitsa, in which an elderly driver aged 76 lost his life. Official sources from the regional police press center in Kyustendil confirmed the extremely dramatic circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial information indicates that the man was driving his personal vehicle when a head-on collision with a truck occurred. The site of the accident is located in the immediate vicinity of Dyakovo village, which caused serious traffic disruptions.

Immediately after registering the incident, the competent authorities took immediate action. Teams from the local police department arrived at the scene to conduct an initial inspection and undertake the necessary procedures for documenting what happened.

Representatives of the Road Infrastructure Agency informed that due to the occurred accident, traffic on the Sofia - Dupnitsa direction is limited and is carried out only in one lane. This requires additional measures for traffic redirection and ensuring the safety of other traffic participants.
