SDS fully backs Iva Mihaylova and her right to real health care and treatment in Bulgaria after her return from North Macedonia, the party's press office said.

This updates our earlier report on Mihaylova's return to Bulgaria.

Mihaylova said earlier today that she crossed the border fully legally on Sunday, together with her lawyer. "The media… I am about to be admitted to Pirogov for treatment," she said.

SDS called the news very joyful. The party says North Macedonia's authorities tried to stop her from crossing the border. SDS believes the dispute over whether she entered legally does not matter when the health and life of the young woman are at stake.

"We do not believe she will get a fair trial and humane treatment in North Macedonia, so we congratulate her on the courage to take this risky step," the party wrote.

President Iliana Iotova told journalists she will meet Mihaylova at the first opportunity. She spoke after taking part in the international conference "The Black Sea and Eastern Europe: A Key to Europe's Security".
