VARNA – In the port city of Varna, this year's Unification celebration was once again marked by a special ceremony at a place steeped in history. The events took place at the significant spot where in 1885, Prince Alexander of Battenberg, who supported the brave Plovdiv rebels, accepted the fated mission to become the prince of a united Bulgaria. This historical moment is immortalized in the city's memory, which was a witness to the events that unfolded on the balcony of the former telegraph-post office.
More than a century later, the people of Varna gathered to honor the memory of the prince and the heroes of the Unification. Attendees, including representatives of various institutions and citizens, laid wreaths and flowers before the bas-relief depicting Battenberg. The ceremony took place under a clear September sky, and a festive, yet solemn, atmosphere was felt in the city center.
Following the official part, a procession, led by the Bulgarian Naval Forces' brass band, passed through the central streets. The sounds of marches echoed along the boulevards as the procession moved slowly and majestically. The procession concluded with a bow and a tribute to the monument of those who fell in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices our country made in defense of its unity and independence.
RUSE
With a solemn ceremony, the anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria was also honored in the Danube city of Ruse. The central event of the celebration was the tribute at the monument to those who fell in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, which gathered a large crowd.
According to established tradition, to the sounds of military marches, an honor guard was received from the servicemen of the Military Formation in the city. The attendees watched the formation as the soldiers performed the ritual with flawless precision.
The celebration also included a deeply religious part. A memorial service and a requiem were held in memory of the heroes who did not spare their lives to achieve the freedom and unity of the nation. The clergy recalled the valor of those who will forever remain in history.

The reconstruction sparked great interest, and the public watched the recreated historical drama with attention.
