Following an inspection in the "Dolno Ezerovo" district, experts identified elevated concentrations of gasoline. Although data from monitoring stations did not record any exceedances of air quality standards, the inspection established a violation of the conditions set out in the integrated permit of "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" regarding substances that produce intense odors.

Due to the spread of these unpleasant odors beyond the production site, RIEW-Burgas is in the process of imposing sanctions on the refinery. This administrative measure is a direct consequence of the frequent complaints filed by citizens over the past night.

A total of 65 reports were submitted to the institutions, with 40 of them addressed to the regional eco-inspection and 25 to the municipality. Residents from various parts of the city complained of a noticeable smell of gas and petroleum products, with some even reporting difficulty breathing.
