The rare "edge fish" emerge to the surface in four countries during May-June 2025.

In the last 20 days of May 2025, the rare deep-sea fish ofrysa, known in Japan as the "fish of the edge", has been observed on the surface four times in different parts of the world - India, Australia, New Zealand and California. These unusual events have generated widespread media and scientific interest, as ofrysa usually lives at a depth of over 200 meters and is rarely observed by people.

Some participants speculate about a possible connection with seismic activity, but scientists warn that there is still no data to establish clear patterns. Nevertheless, the current observations will help support more detailed studies on the vertical migrations of deep-sea organisms and the influence of ocean conditions. Experts plan to intensify observation and environmental analysis during future appearances of ofrysa on the surface.
