In the last 20 days of May 2025, the rare deep-sea fish ofrysa, known in Japan as the "fish of the edge", has been observed on the surface four times in different parts of the world - India, Australia, New Zealand and California. These unusual events have generated widespread media and scientific interest, as ofrysa usually lives at a depth of over 200 meters and is rarely observed by people.
