Corruption scheme shakes ViK-Burgas

A large-scale investigation by the District Prosecutor's Office has uncovered an organized criminal group operating within the ViK-Burgas company. The scheme involved the systematic manipulation of water meters with the aim of underreporting actual water consumption.

According to the state prosecution, the illegally acquired funds were transferred to a fourth participant in the scheme who is located outside the country.

  • Charges: Misconduct in office, trading in influence, and coercion.
  • Detained: Three people, including two senior managers and a technical staff member.

The prosecutor's office has filed a request for permanent detention for the accused individuals. The investigation is ongoing, as the full extent of the damages caused to the company and the state budget is being assessed.
