In connection with the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of three people last night, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov ordered a detailed investigation. The object of the investigation is the training and examination of the young driver who caused the serious accident.
At the scene of the incident, against the backdrop of the tragic situation, the teams started their work in the early hours of the day. Now, the focus is shifting towards establishing all the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
The inspection is carried out by the "Automobile Administration" Executive Agency, and the employees will examine all available data and records from the system for training candidate drivers. In addition, the records from the theoretical and practical examination of the driver will be analyzed. This includes a detailed review of all aspects of the training process, from the routes and duration of the lessons, to the hours of driving, including whether there was night driving.
"We will check the full chronology of the training – routes, duration, driving hours, including whether there is night driving, as well as the records from the theory and practice exams. This allows us to objectively check exactly how the training was conducted and whether there are violations and fictitiously recorded hours", said Minister Karadzhov. His words reflect the authorities' determination to establish all the facts and take the necessary measures.
Minister Karadzhov stressed the importance of checking the digital records, as a key factor in ensuring transparency and accountability in the driver training system.
Despite the pain of the loss of human lives, the minister stressed the need for an objective assessment of the situation. "No inspection can bring back human lives, but we are obliged to understand whether all training and control procedures have been followed. For complete objectivity, we will invite representatives of NGOs and the media to participate in the inspection", he added.
The Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public that the results of the inspection will be made public. "I express my condolences to the relatives of the deceased and I assure you that the results of the inspection will be made public", said Karadzhov.

In response to the initiatives of non-governmental organizations, Minister Karadzhov will also discuss the possibility of introducing staged licensing for young drivers. This system would include staged restrictions for newly graduated drivers until they have gained enough experience on the road. The debate on the issue reflects the growing public attention to road safety and the need for effective measures to reduce the risk of accidents.
