The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) is organizing protests in several cities across the country between March 9th and 12th.
The protests will affect employees in public transport in Sofia, Varna, and Ruse, employees of “Bulgarian Posts” and the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA). The CITUB is demanding a legislative solution to ensure a 5% increase in basic monthly salaries from the budget for those working in sectors financed on a subsidy basis.
On March 9th, employees of “Bulgarian Posts” will stop work, protesting in front of the stations. On the same day, a protest car procession and blockade of the Asparuhov Bridge in Varna will take place.
On March 10th, there will be a protest in Ruse, where bus lines will be blocked. On March 11th, in Sofia, there will be a meeting of the trade unions with the caretaker Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance. On March 12th, RIA employees will block the Republic Pass (Hainboaz).
The CITUB also warns of discontent within the Executive Environment Agency (EEA) and the Ministry of Environment and Water.
