The government has allocated 55 million euros in financial support for heavy-duty road transport to offset rising operational costs and maintain the sector's competitiveness. This one-time aid aims to support the resilience of carriers facing pressure from rising international market prices, logistical challenges due to geopolitical instability, increased road tolls, and the upcoming introduction of the new CO₂ component on June 1, 2026.
The deadline to submit applications under the scheme "Aid in Support of Costs for Maintaining the Competitiveness of Heavy-Duty Road Transport in the Republic of Bulgaria" is September 17. The documentation procedure begins on September 2, immediately following the publication of Council of Ministers Decree No. 115 in the State Gazette.
Companies that hold a freight transport license and whose primary economic activity is heavy-duty road transport are eligible for financial assistance, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The maximum amount an individual enterprise can receive is 300,000 euros. When calculating this limit, any other minimum aid received by the respective company over the last three years will be taken into account.
The total resource will be distributed proportionally based on the toll fees paid by each company in 2025. Once the list of eligible candidates is finalized, the funds will be allocated based on these payments. Carriers will not be required to provide proof of paid road tolls, as authorities will verify this information officially.
Within the system, transport companies can register their firm, enter information regarding their available vehicles, fill in the relevant data, and attach the necessary documentation.
This state aid for carriers may affect the stability of logistics chains and delivery prices in Burgas and the region.
Detailed Internal Rules, as well as specifics regarding the terms and conditions for applying, can be found on the official websites of the "Road Infrastructure" Agency and the National Toll Management. The information is located in the "BG TOLL" section, under the subsection "Documents for minimum aid for carriers - 2026".
