Pomorie Celebrated the Unification with Festivities, a Concert, and a Festival

Today, in the town of Pomorie, the 140th anniversary of the historic Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia was celebrated. The ceremony, filled with solemnity and reverence for the memory of the ancestors, gathered dozens of residents and guests at the central town square, united by the spirit of national unity.

The Echo of History: From the Revival to the Unification

The commemoration of this memorable day began with a thanksgiving service in memory of the heroes whose self-sacrifice and struggle paved the way for the Unification. The event recalled the long and arduous path that the Bulgarian people have traveled through the centuries – from the era of the Bulgarian National Revival and the struggle for an independent church, to the centuries-long efforts to preserve language and traditions, culminating in the National Liberation. All these steps were pointed out as key prerequisites for achieving the Unification.

After the service, the solemn program continued with the participation of two young and talented girls from Pomorie, Kalina Marinova and Vasilia Stoyanova, who with their performance added a touch of freshness and hope. In a sign of tribute to the fallen heroes, wreaths and flowers were laid before the memorial plaques of the participants in the struggle for national liberation. This act of reverence included Mayor Ivan Aleksiev, the Chairman of the Municipal Council - Pomorie Adam Adamov, municipal councilors, public figures, as well as many citizens. In this solemn moment, the atmosphere was permeated with respect and gratitude.

Diversity and Traditions in the Heart of the City

The afternoon program transported the celebration to a different dimension, filled with children's laughter and creative spirit. At 11:00 AM, an open-air children's puppet theater began, which gathered kids and their parents. Simultaneously, a Crafts Festival was opened, turning the central part of the city into a lively center of art and craftsmanship.

Over 30 authors and artisans are presenting their products and skills, transporting visitors to the past of the Bulgarian people. Workshops for processing clay, wax, and wool are just a small part of the activities that give an opportunity for both young and old to get a glimpse of centuries-old crafts.

This opportunity to participate in the creative workshops will continue both today and tomorrow, and the festival itself will delight the residents and guests of the city until September 14.

An Evening of Magic and Spectacle

The festive evening promises to be filled with entertainment and surprises. The culmination of the celebrations will be a concert that will begin at 7:00 PM on the stage of the "Prosveta 1888" Community Center.

Before that, however, at 5:30 PM, the "Talantino" Theater School will present its play "Who Will Play Sly Peter" outdoors, in the garden next to the church "Sveto Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno", also known as the monument with the two shells. The performance is expected to gather many admirers of the theatrical art.

At 6:30 PM, the center of Pomorie will turn into a stage for a joyful stilt procession and a captivating fire show, performed by the Fireter group. The procession will pass through the main streets before reaching the square, where the festive concert will take place.

The finale of the festive day will be marked by a one-hour water show "Bathed in Light", which will take place from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This will be the last presentation for the season of the city fountain, which will enchant the audience with a play of light and water, placing a beautiful end to the celebrations on the occasion of the Unification.
