Pomorie Demands Resignation of MP After Speech in National Assembly

Pomorie - The Mayor of Pomorie, Ivan Aleksiev, requested the resignation of Member of Parliament Radostin Vasilev in connection with his speech from the rostrum of the National Assembly, related to a case involving a 4-year-old child in the "Radost" kindergarten in Kableshkovo. The request for resignation was made during a meeting today with representatives of all educational institutions in the municipality. The meeting was broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of Pomorie Municipality, allowing citizens to follow the discussion.

The atmosphere in the hall was tense. There was quiet dissatisfaction as Mayor Aleksiev presented his arguments.

"It is unacceptable to make direct accusations, threats of citizen arrests and incitement to disobedience from the rostrum of the National Assembly," said the mayor, emphasizing the importance of observing institutional procedures. According to him, the MP stated his party's intention to block Kableshkovo and carry out a citizen's arrest of a teacher from the kindergarten.

"Who are you, Mr. Radostin Vasilev, to arrest and incite to revolt?" Aleksiev asked. "If you have courage, remove your immunity and come out in front of the people, not behind the political stage."

The Mayor of Pomorie called on Radostin Vasilev to visit Kableshkovo and stated that if the MP attempts to "arrest" or exercise civil disobedience against the director and teachers, he, as mayor, would oppose it, using all legal means.

Ivan Aleksiev stressed that the MP's statements were politically motivated, misleading the public and undermining the authority of the Bulgarian educational system and state institutions.

This case comes against the backdrop of media attention, following a television investigation that came to light a few days ago. All competent institutions have already been notified about the case of violence against a child in the "Radost" kindergarten in Kableshkovo, the mayor assured.

The mayor explained that the municipal administration has taken all legal actions and has strictly followed the established procedures.

"The law has been observed and all procedures have been followed. Institutions must be left to work," Aleksiev emphasized. He clarified that the Regional Education Department (REO), the Social Assistance Agency, the State Agency for Child Protection, as well as the Regional Police Department in Pomorie, which has handed over the materials of the case to the prosecutor's office, have been notified.

"We as an institution, Pomorie Municipality, have done our job. The fact that if someone is not satisfied is their personal problem," the mayor stated categorically.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Pomorie Municipality, Yancho Iliev, the Director of the "Humanitarian Activities" Department, Anton Lalev, and experts from the department.

Mayor Aleksiev emphasized that today's meeting was convened not only to protect the authority of the specific kindergarten or the Municipality, but to protect the authority of the entire educational system. He urged the public to be patient and to allow the competent authorities to do their job.

In his statement, the mayor presented information about the educational network in the municipality, in which 20 educational institutions function, including schools, kindergartens and a combined children's complex. For the 2025/2026 school year, about 3300 children are educated in them and over 1000 teachers work. "How can I not protect all these people?" Aleksiev asked.
