Three men with a criminal record, aged 50 to 58, were arrested during a specialized police operation in the village of Suhodol, Burgas region. In the yard of a private property, a high-tech greenhouse for growing 240 cannabis plants, equipped with an autonomous power production system and specialized equipment, was discovered. The detained individuals have been charged with a crime under the Criminal Code and are awaiting the imposition of a permanent measure of restraint.

Employees of the "Criminal Police" department and the "Special Tactical Actions" sector of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas conducted a specialized operation in the village of Suhodol, Sredets, during which three men aged 50 to 58 with criminal records were detained. The first is a 50-year-old resident of Burgas, owner of the property, with a criminal record for thefts and illegal seizure of motor vehicles. The second is a 53-year-old resident of Burgas with a criminal record for thefts and leading an organized crime group, and the third is a 58-year-old person from Varna, detained by the police with narcotic substances and registered for cultivating cannabis plants.

In the yard of the private property, a high-tech drug greenhouse with a total area of around 80 sq.m., equipped with an autonomous power production system powering the entire facility, was discovered. The room was growing 240 cannabis plants in different stages of development, with an average height of around 150 cm. Specialized equipment for growing marijuana was also found, including numerous quartz lamps, filters, fans, humidity measurement devices, thermometers, drip irrigation, and a ventilation system.

The Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas, Senior Commissioner Vladimir Marinov, commented that he has never seen the use of renewable energy sources for this type of criminal activity, describing the greenhouse as built at a professional level. The Administrative Head of the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office, Georgi Chinev, stated that if the dry leaf mass were to be harvested, the value of the seized quantity could reach around 1 million leva at the prices of the court proceedings.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated for a crime under the Criminal Code - for sowing and cultivating plants of the cannabis genus. At the moment, the three men with criminal records have been detained for up to 24 hours, and are expected to be charged and detained for up to 72 hours, with the aim of imposing a permanent measure of remand.

The drug greenhouse has been under observation since February, and the production was being prepared for distribution during the summer season, mainly in Sunny Beach, Burgas, and the resorts along the Northern Black Sea coast. Targeted actions against drug trafficking will continue with even greater intensity, especially during the peak of the summer tourist season.
