An underground car park with 81 spaces will be built in the Vazrazhdane neighbourhood of Burgas, the city council said. The roof will hold two sports pitches and an open-air gym.
The car park will go between Knyaginya Maria Luiza street and Debelt street, right next to the Zlatnoto Klyuche kindergarten. The site now has only sports courts, on a steep slope because the two streets are at different heights.
Vazrazhdane is one of the most populated and busiest residential areas in Burgas. The council says the new car park will ease parking there.
The streets differ in height by about 2.10 metres, and the project uses this. Cars will get in more easily, and the car park will be ventilated naturally. The side facing Knyaginya Maria Luiza street will be fully open, with no walls or windows.
The only entrance and exit for cars will be on that street. Cars will use a ramp with a slope of up to 10%, fitted with a barrier and an access system. Next to it is a staircase for pedestrians and for evacuation. At the opposite end of the car park there will be a stairwell and a lift to and from Debelt street.
Pedestrians will be able to enter from two sides: by a shortened ramp next to the car entrance, and from Debelt street.
Three of the spaces are planned for people with disabilities, and two will have chargers for electric cars. The design leaves room for 16 more charging spaces.
The roof will have three zones: one for mini football, one for basketball and volleyball, and one for fitness and group workouts. The mini football pitch measures 20 by 40 metres, and the basketball and volleyball court 19 by 32 metres. Six small stands with sun shades will be placed around the two, three at each.
The only way into the sports courts will be from Debelt street, where there will also be a drinking fountain.
The fitness zone covers 65 square metres and has equipment for a wide range of users. Some of it will be fixed to a wall, with instructions next to it on how to do the exercises and use the equipment.
