The writer, journalist, and member of parliament "Lyuben Dilov-syn" has passed away, as became clear from a post on social media by GERB leader "Boyko Borisov". The news of his passing sparked numerous reactions and condolences from politicians, colleagues, and friends.
In his post, Borisov expresses sympathy to the family and loved ones of Dilov-syn, highlighting the personal and societal loss. "Goodbye, Lyubo Dilov! I have lost a friend, a brilliant personality, a talented writer, and a man with an exceptional sense of humor and civil stance," he writes.
A difficult health period before his passing
In recent months, "Lyuben Dilov-syn" was absent from public life due to serious health problems. At the end of April, he suffered a heart attack, after which he had to remain under constant medical supervision.
At that time, his close associates reported that he was hospitalized in "Rome". His condition required specialized medical care, and information about his health was limited, until today when it became clear that he had passed away.
Early years and education
"Lyuben Dilov-syn" was born on November 19, 1964, in "Sofia" into a family with a literary tradition. He graduated in "journalism" from "Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski", which laid the foundations for his professional path in media and public life.
From a young age, he became actively involved in the television environment and gained popularity through his participation in innovative formats for the time, aimed at young audiences and socio-political satire.
Television projects and media career
The name of "Lyuben Dilov-syn" is inextricably linked to some of the most iconic Bulgarian television shows of the 90s and the beginning of the new century. He was among the creators of "Ku-ku", "Kanaleto", "Hashove", and "Slavi's Show" – formats that left a lasting mark on Bulgarian television and public debate.
From August 11, 2010, Dilov-syn became the editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian edition of the Italian magazine "L'Europeo". Bulgaria remains the only country where the magazine continues to be published, which underscores his role in adapting and preserving this prestigious brand in our country.
Political activity and "Gergyovden"
"Lyuben Dilov-syn" entered politics in 2001, when he became the creator and first spokesperson of the "Gergyovden" movement. The formation positioned itself as a different voice in the public sphere, and Dilov-syn distinguished himself with a bright style and a clear civil stance.
Subsequently, he became a member of parliament in several assemblies – initially from the lists of the "United Democratic Forces (UDF)", and later from the "GERB-SDS" coalition. Despite his election as an MP, he was unable to be sworn in to the "52nd National Assembly".
Legacy and public image
The combination of literary talent, television presence, political activity, and a sense of humor turned "Lyuben Dilov-syn" into one of the most recognizable figures in Bulgarian public life. He was often described as someone who knew how to combine satire and serious commentary, as well as an author with an inimitable style.
