Three human lives were lost and thirty more people were injured as a result of road incidents that occurred on the territory of the country over the past 24 hours. The data was officially announced on the website of the Ministry of Interior, which reported a total of 27 serious accidents with fatalities and injuries just within the last 24 hours.
While the road conditions in the country remain tense, the streets of the capital are no exception. A total of 18 minor incidents were registered in Sofia, which resulted only in material damage. Unfortunately, three serious accidents with injured people have been added to them. According to the latest data, three people were injured within the city, but fortunately, there were no fatalities.
Alarming statistics from the beginning of the month and the year
The tragic statistics for the past 24 hours are part of a broader and alarming trend that has been observed since the beginning of the month. From the first day of this month until now, a total of 196 accidents have occurred, taking the lives of 16 people and injuring 221 road users.
"The analysis of the data for the entire year shows an even grimmer picture. From the beginning of 2025 until now, 4,696 road incidents have been registered in the country. In them, 301 people have died, and the number of injured has reached 5,892."

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the Ministry of Interior also notes one small but important positive trend. When comparing the data for fatalities during the same period in 2024, it can be seen that in the current year 2025, there are seven fewer victims. This decrease, although small, gives some hope against the backdrop of the otherwise alarming road statistics. Experts note that despite this, road safety remains one of the most serious challenges facing society, requiring comprehensive measures and increased control.
