Today's spotlight is on the MECH party, which is submitting its documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC). The formation has officially declared its participation with the candidacies of Radostin Vasilev and Krasimir Manov. At the same time, the public is awaiting the outcome regarding GERB and their decision on whether they will field their own contender for "Dondukov" 2. Party leader Boyko Borisov commented on the topic a few days ago in Arbanasi, stating: "I am against GERB having its own presidential candidate. I have given the party until September 8 to make a decision—whether to nominate someone or not."

The day is also crucial because the CEC only accepts registrations from parties and coalitions for the October 25 elections until 5:00 PM. Media outlets remind us that today is the penultimate deadline for these administrative procedures. As for initiative committees, they have until September 14 to register for the upcoming vote.

It is expected that the establishment of the initiative committee that will nominate current head of state Iliana Iotova and Kiril Valchev will be announced later today. The formation process will continue on Thursday, September 10, when the committee in support of Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev will be established.

Once the registration of participants is complete, the following stages of the election calendar will follow:

  • By September 22: Deadline for registered participants to submit documents for presidential tickets.
  • On September 23: The CEC will determine the order of presidential tickets on the ballot by a drawing of lots.
