The national approach to determining the minimum wage in Bulgaria is set to change through a new calculation mechanism proposed in an initiative currently under first reading in an extraordinary session of Parliament. At present, the minimum monthly wage is fixed at 1213 leva (620.20 euro).

The new mechanism for determining the minimum wage will affect income levels for all workers in Burgas and the region.

The government proposal aims to provide greater clarity in setting the country's minimum wage, while simultaneously complying with the requirements of European Directive 2022/2041 on adequate minimum wages. Through this new approach, the goal is to ensure that workers receive adequate compensation that is linked to income dynamics in Bulgaria.
