Two more new Alstom electric trains will each run two fast services between Sofia and Burgas, four in all. That brings the number of new trains in service to six, and two more are due to start next week.

Fast train No. 3623 from Sofia Central Station, leaving at 1.15pm, already runs with a new train. From 30 October the same train will also run No. 3622 from Burgas at 8.55am.

The second train starts on 30 October with fast train No. 8613 from Sofia at 12.55pm. The next day it comes back on the Burgas–Sofia route as fast train No. 8610, which leaves Burgas station at 7.55am.

The Alstom Coradia Stream trains are single-deck and electric, and they produce no harmful emissions. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has signed a contract with the BULEMU consortium for 35 such trains and for 15 years of maintenance. The money comes from Bulgaria's Recovery and Resilience Plan.

On 27 September we reported that new Alstom Coradia Stream trains have run on the Sofia–Burgas route since 26 September. On 20 October we also reported that four trains between Burgas and Sofia will stay at Central Station during repairs.

Each train is named after a Bulgarian river, waterfall or spring. Its QR code leads to the series "Rivers, Waterfalls and Springs in Bulgaria", which has information about that place.
