The parliamentary group of "Revival" took a decisive step against the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet by officially depositing a third vote of no confidence. The document is also supported by deputies from the MEH and "Grandeur" parties, which expands the opposition front against the executive branch.
The main criticisms are concentrated on the government's financial policy. Political opponents argue that the current budget model is based on incorrect statistical assumptions and overly optimistic macroeconomic forecasts.
The criticism of the plans to join the eurozone is particularly sharp. "Revival" categorically insist that there is no public support for such a step. They qualify the government's intentions as an attempt to "destroy the 145-year-old Bulgarian lev" by effectively turning the BNB into a branch of the European Central Bank.
The opposition's financial arguments are supported by specific figures. According to them, government debt will increase dramatically - from 41 billion leva in 2024 to 88.9 billion leva by 2028. This growth means not just a nominal increase, but also a jump in the share of gross domestic product from 23.5% to 36%.
The ruling party's official position that they are pursuing a policy of "sustainable and transparent public finances" is defined by the vote's sponsors as an empty slogan without real content.
According to the procedural rules of the National Assembly, the upcoming debate on the vote of no confidence will be held within 3 to 7 days after its official submission, which provides an opportunity for intensive political discussions.
