The Municipality of Pomorie will Undertake Large-Scale Inspections for Illegal Tourist Accommodations from June 16, 2025.

The Municipality of Pomorie informs that from June 16, 2025, a gradual and intensive control campaign will be launched to establish unauthorized provision of tourist accommodations. The checks will be carried out in areas where a high concentration of apartments used for short-term accommodation without the necessary categorization or registration under the Tourism Act has been established.

The control actions are directed against all natural and legal persons who provide properties for overnight stays without being entered in the National Tourist Register and without paying the due tourist taxes. The scope of the checks includes properties advertised through platforms such as Booking.com, Airbnb, OLX, social networks and other channels, as well as sites for which there are reports from citizens or suspicions of unauthorized activity.

Upon finding the provision of overnight stays in accommodation facilities that are not categorized or registered under the Tourism Act, the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA) will be notified to check and audit the unauthorized income.

In case of violations, acts for establishing administrative violations will be drawn up, with foreseen fines and property sanctions: for natural persons - from 500 to 5,000 BGN, and for legal persons - from 1,000 to 10,000 BGN. In case of repeated violations, the sanctions can reach up to 15,000 BGN.

The Municipality of Pomorie emphasizes that no individual notifications will be sent to owners and tenants. The checks will be carried out on site, without prior warning, both in the presence and in the absence of the occupants. If access to the site is prevented, assistance from the Ministry of Interior will be sought.

All persons who provide tourist services, but have not fulfilled their legal obligations, are urged to immediately take action to register and categorize the site in accordance with the Tourism Act.

The Municipality of Pomorie will apply its full legal powers to terminate the unauthorized tourist activity. Violators will bear administrative and penal responsibility.
