The Public Defender of Burgas Todor Stamboliev signals delays in issuing invoices for water consumption.
In a "Facebook" post, he specifies that in recent months he has received numerous signals from citizens. Some of them also report difficulties in reading the amounts of water after replacing mechanical water meters with devices that allow remote transmission of data to "Water and Sewerage - Burgas" EAD.
"Particularly worrying is the fact that in a number of cases, after the replacement of water meters, the bills for the actually consumed amounts of water are issued with a serious delay", notes the Public Defender.
In the context of consumer concerns, he also recalls cases in the country with shockingly high water bills, such as the one with bills up to 840 euros in Sofia, for which the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) requested an explanation from "Sofia Water" AD.
"This raises completely justified fears among people that accumulated debts for two or more months can be charged at once, which would lead to serious financial difficulties for many households", Stamboliev also writes.
He emphasizes that access to accurate and timely information on consumption and the amount of debt is a fundamental right of every citizen and a guarantee of predictability and peace of mind in the family budget.
