On December 6th, we commemorate the memory of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker – the patron saint of fishermen, sailors, merchants, and bankers. Pomorie and Aheloy are once again ready to celebrate St. Nicholas Day, in accordance with Christian precepts. After the celebration of festive liturgies, processions will depart from the churches. The memory of those who have lost their lives at sea will also be honored. Traditionally, consecrated fish dishes and a kurbaan (a sacrificial offering) for health will be distributed to the people.
PROGRAM FOR 06.12.2025 (Saturday) – ST. NICHOLAS DAY
~ in the city of Pomorie
- 09.00 – Festive liturgies
- 10.30 – Procession from the church "Nativity of the Theotokos" to the chapel "St. Nicholas" at the Pomorie fishing port
- 11.30 – Distribution of the consecrated dishes at the Fishing Port – Pomorie
~ in the city of Aheloy
- 08.00 – Festive liturgy in the church "Holy Ascension of the Lord"
- 12.30 – Distribution of the consecrated dishes in the park near the church "Holy Ascension of the Lord"
- 13.00 – Blessing of the waters for health and prosperity of the fishermen at the port in the city of Aheloy
