Burgas and the region: cloudy, warm, with short rain and pleasant sea water
On July 6 in Burgas and the surrounding area, the weather will be mostly cloudy, with light rain. According to the NIMH forecast, the day will start with variable cloudiness, and later it will remain cloudy with isolated short-term showers. The maximum air temperature will reach around 28°, and the minimum in the morning – around 18°.
The probability of precipitation in the area is about 30–35%, with the expected amounts being small – typical for a short summer rain. The wind will be moderate, mainly from an east to northeast direction, with speeds of about 5–7 m/s, which will create a noticeable, but not strong, breeze along the coast.
The sea water temperature near Burgas at the beginning of July is around 24°, according to the average values for the first third of the month. This provides pleasant conditions for swimming for most people. The sea state will be slight to moderate – up to 2–3 degrees Douglas scale.
Given the warm weather, the pleasant water temperature, and possible short showers, the preliminary safety assessment for swimming in the Burgas area for July 6 is "yellow flag" – swimming is allowed, but with caution, especially in case of stronger wind gusts or the appearance of thunderclouds.
Sofia and the region: warm, unstable, with afternoon rains and thunderstorms
In Sofia and its surroundings on July 6, the weather will remain warm but unstable. After a calm night, the morning will start with variable cloudiness and temperatures around 17°–19°. During the day, maximum values will reach around 26°–28°.
According to NIMH data, the air mass over the country during the first week of July is unstable. On July 6, cumulonimbus clouds will develop, with the possibility of short-term showers accompanied by thunderstorms over Western Bulgaria and the Sofia field. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the northwest, with stronger gusts possible near thunderstorm cells.
For the Sofia area, the swimming safety assessment refers primarily to swimming in open water bodies: the recommendation is "yellow flag" – swim with caution and avoid the water during thunderstorms.
Eastern and Western Bulgaria: rainy but warm, with precipitation mainly in Central and Eastern Bulgaria
According to the monthly forecast of the NIMH for July, after the strong thunderstorms at the beginning of the month, the air mass remains unstable. In the period July 6–8, the precipitation and storms will gradually move towards the Black Sea coast and Eastern Bulgaria.
On July 6 in Western Bulgaria (Sofia region, Northwest, Southwest), variable cloudiness is expected, with short-term showers in the afternoon, but not everywhere. Maximum temperatures will be between 26° and 30°.
In Central and Eastern Bulgaria, precipitation will be more frequent – local thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening, especially over the Upper Thracian Plain and Northeastern Bulgaria. Temperatures will range between 25° and 29°, with slightly cooler weather along the seashore.
The wind in the western part will be light to moderate from the northwest, and in the eastern part – more frequently from the northeast. For the interior of the country, the safety assessment for swimming in rivers and reservoirs is "yellow flag" – swim with caution and avoid the water during thunderstorms.
In the mountains: pleasant temperatures, but with high risk of afternoon storms
In the mountain regions on July 6, the morning will be relatively calm, with broken clouds and good conditions for early hikes. Temperatures will be around 17° at 1000–1200 meters and around 10°–12° at 2000 meters – cool, but comfortable for tourism.
In the afternoon, powerful cumulonimbus clouds will develop over the Balkan Mountains, the Rila-Rhodope massif, and Pirin, with short-term but locally intense rain, thunderstorms, and a possibility of hail. The wind will be light to moderate from the northwest, and may intensify at higher altitudes.
For mountain lakes and reservoirs, the swimming assessment remains "red flag" – swimming is not recommended due to low water temperatures, rapid changes in conditions, and increased risk during thunderstorms. Hikers should plan routes so that they are off peaks and ridges in the late afternoon.
The Black Sea coast: warm, with more clouds and local rain
On the Black Sea coast on July 6, warm but unstable weather is expected. The morning will be mostly cloudy with temporary clearings, and during the day the cloudiness will persist, with isolated short rain showers – mainly on the Central and Southern coast.
Maximum air temperatures along the coast will be between 26° and 28°, and minimums – around 18°–20°. The sea water will be around 23°–24°, with a slight warming compared to the first days of July. The wind will be light to moderate from the east–northeast, and the sea state will be slight to moderate, about 2–3 degrees Douglas scale.
Given the warm weather, pleasant water, and local rains, the general safety assessment for swimming on the Black Sea coast for July 6 is "yellow flag" – swimming is allowed, but with caution, especially upon the appearance of thunderclouds and stronger wind gusts.
