Ministry of Interior: Grim Report on Road Accidents in the Country

Serious incident claims one life, 24 injured

A serious road incident claimed the life of one person, while 24 others were injured in 21 accidents registered across the country in the last 24 hours alone. The data was officially announced by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) on their website, highlighting the continuing alarming statistics for road safety on Bulgarian roads.

Following a series of severe road accidents over the past 24 hours, authorities are appealing for increased caution and responsibility from drivers. The MOI's report covers a period in which numerous small and large incidents have shaken the country.

In the capital, which is traditionally a center of intense traffic, 18 minor road accidents were registered, which passed without serious consequences. Unfortunately, however, within the city, there were also three serious incidents in which five people were injured. Fortunately, no fatalities were registered in Sofia.

Alarming statistics for the month and the year

The overall picture for the month continues to be alarming. Since the beginning of the month, there have been 235 accidents in the country. As a result of these incidents, 17 people have lost their lives, and 269 have been injured, making the situation on the road increasingly serious.

Since the beginning of the year to date, the number of road accidents has reached 4742. This has led to the death of 302 people, while another 5953 have been injured in various incidents.

Despite these grim statistics, official data from the MOI indicates a slight, but significant improvement compared to the previous year. According to the report, in the same period of 2025, the number of fatalities among road users is eight fewer compared to the data from 2024. This is the only positive highlight in the overall report, which gives hope for a reduction in victims from road incidents in the future.
