General Ismail Qaani, commander of the "Quds" forces of the Revolutionary Guard, once again demonstrated his ability to "resurrect" after another mysterious disappearance. Reported as eliminated during the military operation against Israel, he appeared quite unexpectedly at a celebration in the center of Tehran.
Iranian media channels broadcast footage showing the 62-year-old general, dressed in civilian clothes and a black hat, communicating with celebrating citizens. His sudden appearance comes after 12 days of complete silence, which caused numerous speculations about his fate.
Qaani took this strategic post in 2020, after his predecessor Qassem Soleimani was killed in an American air strike ordered by Donald Trump. The "Quds" structure he leads represents the international intelligence and operational branch of the Revolutionary Guard.
The forces under his command are responsible for building and maintaining pro-Iranian formations throughout the Middle East. They have direct involvement in supporting organizations such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and pro-Iranian militias in Syria and Iraq.
The organization is also known for carrying out terrorist acts abroad, including those directed against Israeli citizens. Their record includes attacks such as the one in Burgas, Bulgaria in 2012, in which five Israeli tourists were killed.
While the previous commander Soleimani was considered a charismatic leader, Qaani is traditionally perceived as a more gray and inconspicuous functionary. Nevertheless, analysts suggest that Israel intended to eliminate him during the "Om Lavie" military operation.
Interestingly, a similar scenario has already occurred - last year Qaani disappeared for more than two weeks, which gave rise to numerous conspiracy theories. At that time, there were even speculations that he was being questioned about possible secret contacts with Israeli services.
Official Tehran invariably rejects such claims, and the general always manages to return to the scene, reinforcing his reputation as an elusive military commander.
