The Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgi Georgiev participated in an extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, where the military escalation between Israel and Iran was discussed. The European Union called for a cessation of military actions and a return to negotiations to resolve the Iranian nuclear program.

The foreign ministers of the member states of the European Union gathered for an urgent video conference meeting to discuss developments in the Middle East. The main focus of the discussions was the escalation of military actions between Israel and Iran.

A common position was expressed that Iran must return to the implementation of its commitments regarding the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and cooperate constructively with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The ministers issued a united message for the cessation of military actions and a return to negotiations, which is the only way to achieve a sustainable solution to the Iranian nuclear program.

Minister Georgiev confirmed Bulgaria's support for the diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region. He expressed strong concern about the growing number of civilian casualties and identified the safety of European citizens as a top priority.

In addition, the ministers exchanged information on the consular protection of citizens and the diplomatic representations of the EU member states located in the Middle East.
