Medical personnel and an accomplice detained for illegal distribution of methadone in Plovdiv.

On June 2, employees of the Fourth Police Station in Plovdiv conducted an inspection in a psychiatric office, operating under a methadone program for the treatment of drug addicts. During the procedural actions, they found a quantity of methadone, held in the office without the necessary permit from the 54-year-old doctor, head of the program, and her 56-year-old colleague. The third detainee is a 50-year-old man, for whom there is data that on the same day he received 280 grams of the high-risk substance from the two doctors, without being included in the list of patients in need of therapy.

A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Plovdiv. Today, charges were brought against the three, and by decision of the supervising prosecutor, their detention measure has been extended to 72 hours. The investigation is ongoing.
