Within a two-week intensive inspection period between June 2 and 20, 2025, expert teams from the General Directorate "State Technical Supervision Inspection" and the General Directorate "Market Surveillance" of the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision conducted a large-scale national survey of swimming facilities.
The inspections covered key tourist destinations throughout the country - from the Black Sea resorts of Golden Sands, Sunny Beach, and Saint Vlas, through mountain centers Borovets and Pamporovo, to popular cities such as Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas, Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, and many others.
Inspectors reviewed a total of 250 facilities managing 570 swimming pools, with the aim of ensuring the safe operation of technical equipment and water entertainment facilities.
The results of the inspection revealed significant gaps in technical maintenance, which necessitated the implementation of 138 mandatory administrative measures in accordance with the provisions of Article 49, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the Technical Requirements for Products Act.
The control authorities formulated a series of mandatory instructions for swimming facility owners, including: creating specialized committees for periodic technical inspections, compiling detailed protocols on the condition of elements, preparing technical dossiers and instructions for safe operation.
Key requirements included designating responsible personnel for technical maintenance, documenting all repair activities, maintaining complete technical documentation, and timely replacement of damaged components.
The State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision announced that it will continue to conduct regular inspections aimed at ensuring maximum safety for swimming facility users in the tourism sector.
These large-scale inspections demonstrate the consistent policy of state institutions for strict control over technical condition and operational readiness of high-risk facilities.
