Summer 2026 has begun: First British tourists landed at Burgas Airport

Start of the active 2026 tourist season

With a flight from the British city of Newcastle, the first tourists for the summer of 2026 were welcomed at Burgas Airport today. Their arrival marks the official start of the active tourist season on the Southern Black Sea coast.

This year, expectations are that thousands of British guests will choose the Bulgarian seaside for their vacation.

It is important to note that the first flight takes place just days after the complete renovation of the airport runway, which guarantees higher safety and capacity.

Over 70 destinations for the summer season

The large-scale charter program starts this month. Passengers will be able to choose between over 70 direct destinations, including:

• Rome and London
• Paris and Vienna
• Scandinavian countries

Forecasts and new markets

The expected growth in tourists is between 3 and 5%. The main markets remain Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany. The Italian market is also being monitored with particular interest, as the start of the "Giro d'Italia" from the Southern Black Sea coast is expected to attract a significant number of guests and strengthen our position in Italy.
