Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition has asked seven more wholesale fuel traders for detailed data on petrol and diesel prices. They have seven days to reply, and the figures must cover 1 May to 28 September 2026.

The requests went to Saxa OOD, Bent Oil AD, Bulmarket DM EOOD, OMV Bulgaria OOD, Rompetrol Bulgaria EAD, EKO Bulgaria EAD and Insa Oil EOOD.

The traders must say who supplies their fuel, at what prices, and at what prices they sell it on wholesale, how much they imported, and how the price breaks down. The check is a preliminary probe under Article 38a of the Law on Protection of Competition.

The commission has also asked the National Revenue Agency for a summary of retail sales over the same months. The new requests add to information already sought from Lukoil Bulgaria EOOD and Lukoil Neftohim Burgas AD, and the commission is also drawing on data from its earlier study of the fuel market.

The probe follows an ongoing look at the wholesale market, complaints the commission has received, and the international situation, which is hitting Europe and Bulgaria directly. Investigators want to know how prices for both fuels are set, and on what terms they are delivered and imported. They are also checking how wholesale prices feed through to petrol stations — in other words, what drivers end up paying at the pump.

Once it has the data, the commission will track how wholesale and retail prices have moved. It will also look at how prices are set and whether supplies are reliable. It will then decide what steps to take next under the law.

In May this year, based on its earlier study, the commission proposed an anti-crisis package of 23 measures.
