Today is the last day for regional election commissions to appoint members of the polling station commissions for the presidential election on 25 October.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has also changed the rules for replacing polling station members. A member can now be replaced only if they submit a personal statement that they cannot do the job, and only for a valid reason such as illness or a conflict of interest. The CEC says the change will stop random last-minute replacements.

Voters have until tomorrow to apply to vote at their current address. Those taking part in the election must register their campaign observers by 14 October.

The CEC is already showing voters how machine voting works at key sites in Sofia. An app called "Izbori 360" has also been developed.
