Economic breakthrough: Bulgaria's share of EU GDP has doubled in 18 years

Bulgaria marks stable economic growth in the EU

Eurostat data for 2025 reveals remarkable economic progress for Bulgaria. Our country's share in the total economic output of the European Union has reached 0.6%, which places Bulgaria in 19th place in the community.

This is more than a double increase compared to 2007, when our share was just 0.3% of the EU's GDP.

Growth of 257% for the period 2007–2025

In nominal value, our economy has gone from 32.46 billion euros in 2007 to almost 116.02 billion euros in 2025. The comparative analysis shows impressive results:

• The Bulgarian economy has grown by 257.4%.
• The total growth of the EU for the same period is 74.1%.
• Bulgaria is outpacing the Union's economic growth rates by 3.5 times.

Bulgaria's position among other member states

In 2025, Bulgaria occupies its place among economies with a share of under 1% of the EU output, along with countries like Malta, Cyprus, Estonia, and Latvia. It is important to note that while in 2007 only 4 countries were behind us, today a significant number of states remain behind the development pace of the Bulgarian economy.
