Controlled access to the Elenite holiday village has begun for property owners who have sought assistance to retrieve personal documents, medications, and other necessary belongings from their homes, reported a BTA reporter present at the scene.
There is a tense atmosphere at the location. Visibly concerned, the owners are awaiting their turn to be granted access to their homes. Access is limited to certain zones, primarily in the lower part of the village. As the Regional Governor of Burgas, Vladimir Krumov, noted to journalists, the upper part of the territory remains impassable, as the first floors of the buildings are buried by sediment, trees, and stones. Access is only permitted to owners who can prove their ownership rights, Krumov emphasized.
The work of clearing Elenite continues with additional equipment. The main road sections have already been cleared. 45 servicemen are deployed on the ground, and there are approximately the same number of volunteers, our reporter testifies. In addition, teams from private companies with the necessary equipment, police officers, firefighters, and a large number of employees from various institutions are present.
Regarding the environmental situation and the quality of drinking water, Krumov noted that there is no current data at the moment. The arrival of teams from the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Waters-Burgas and the River Basin Directorate is expected on Monday.
The affected area is without drinking water and electricity.
Given the upcoming heavy rainfall in the coming week, the Regional Governor shared that instructions have been sent to all mayors to organize patrols in the settlements near ravines and rivers. The aim is to warn the population to stay on the second floors of their homes, and if that is not possible, to seek shelter preventively with relatives. He added that round-the-clock duty shifts have been provided.
Tomorrow, the description of the damages in the zones that are accessible will begin. All cars pulled from the sea have been moved to municipal parking lots, photographed, and protocols are being issued to the owners. Activities are also underway to remove other vehicles.
