Two tragic incidents in a single day took the lives of two women on the Burgas Black Sea coast, local police reported. The sea waters, which attract thousands of tourists, proved fatal for a 56-year-old Bulgarian woman and a 72-year-old Finnish citizen, with both cases registered on August 21.
First case: Ahtopol
The first drowning report was for an incident that occurred in the unguarded part of Dolphin beach, located near the town of Ahtopol. The victim is a 56-year-old woman from Sofia. The tragedy unfolded in the late afternoon, when many vacationers were already preparing to leave the beach. The place where the incident occurred is known for its rough seas and stronger currents, which requires visitors to exercise increased caution.
Second case: Pomorie

The second fatal case occurred earlier the same day on the southern beach in Pomorie. The report was for a drowned 72-year-old Finnish citizen. The incident took place in front of the first lifeguard post on the beach, where lifeguards constantly monitor the safety of swimmers. The foreign tourist arrived in Bulgaria on August 16 with her husband for her summer vacation. Such tragedies cast a dark shadow over the otherwise lively summer season. The woman's body has been transported for an autopsy, which should determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations are being conducted by the authorities in both cases to clarify the circumstances that led to the deaths of the two women. The tragic incidents once again raise the question of the importance of swimming in guarded areas and following the instructions of lifeguards.
