Who are the new ministers leaving parliament?
According to information published on the National Assembly website, nine of the members of the Council of Ministers have been elected from the "Progressive Bulgaria" parliamentary group. This necessitates changes to the composition of the legislative body.
In accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution, members of parliament may not hold any other public office that is incompatible with their position as a deputy.
Among the ministers who will suspend their parliamentary powers are:
- Rumen Radev – Prime Minister
- Galab Donev – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance
- Ivan Demerdzhiev – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior
- Alexander Pulev – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry
- Dimitar Stoyanov – Minister of Defense
- Ivan Shishkov – Minister of Regional Development and Public Works
- Rositsa Karamfilova-Blagova – Minister of Environment and Water
- Ilin Dimitrov – Minister of Tourism
- Encho Keryazov – Minister of Youth and Sports
According to the country's fundamental law, when a member of parliament is elected as a minister, their powers are suspended for the duration of their term, and they are replaced by another person in accordance with the procedure established by law.
