People whose names were forcibly changed during the "revival process" will find it easier to get their old names back. That's under changes to the Civil Registration Act filed by Democratic Bulgaria, the party's press office said.

The bill would set up an electronic exchange between government agencies to update records automatically. People would no longer need to submit a certificate proving their identity, and their signature on the request to restore a name would no longer need to be notarized. The ID card issued after a name is restored would be free.

Democratic Bulgaria says some government agencies aren't following the Electronic Governance Act. If they used internal electronic services, no certificate would be needed at all — agencies could simply check the national population register with a person's ID number to see if they're listed under two names, the one forced on them and their original one.

A day earlier, Democratic Bulgaria unveiled another proposal: a "Future" account, under which the state would open a personal account with 1,000 euros for every child born from next year on.
