Rainy December: What Weather to Expect Today?

December 7, 2025 - a day when the weather will show quite diverse features on the territory of Bulgaria. Get ready for rain in the east, fog in the lowlands, and winds along the coast. Here's what to expect from the sky today if you're planning a walk outside.

Different Faces of the Weather

Today, residents of the easternmost regions of the country will need to stock up on umbrellas. Rain is expected there throughout the day. But don't despair, as after noon over the southwestern part of Bulgaria, as well as over the western part of the Upper Thracian Lowland, the cloud cover will begin to dissipate. This means that sunshine and more pleasant weather may appear.

In the rest of the country, things will be a little different. It will be cloudy, and there will likely be fog in the lowlands. A moderate north-northeast wind will blow, which can add an extra touch of the feeling of cold. Temperatures, however, will remain quite stable during the day, without significant fluctuations. Minimum temperatures will be between 4 and 9 degrees, and maximum temperatures will be between 6 and 11 degrees.

Weather in Major Cities

For the residents of the capital, Sofia, the forecast predicts a minimum temperature around 4 degrees, while the maximum will reach around 8 degrees. For those who are on the Black Sea coast, the picture is a little different.

On the Coast

It will be cloudy on the Black Sea coast and there will be intermittent rain. The wind there will be stronger, moderate to strong, again from the north-northeast. Maximum temperatures will reach 11-12 degrees, which is a little lower than the temperature of the sea water. The sea swell is expected to be between 3 and 4 Beaufort, so if you are planning a sea trip, be careful.

In the Mountains

If you have planned a walk in the mountains, you will have to prepare for cloudy weather, but almost without precipitation. The wind will be moderate, from the north-northeast. At an altitude of 1200 meters, the maximum temperature will be around 6 degrees, and at 2000 meters - around 2 degrees. December is a month in which the mountains become even more beautiful, but also more capricious.
