Cloudy weather continues overnight and today, with rain in many parts of eastern and southern Bulgaria, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology says. Air pressure is rising and stays above the average for the month.

Rain starts first in the southwest, then moves east and south during the day. Winds die down at night in most areas but pick up again by day — moderate from the north-northeast, and strong at times in the east.

Lows will range from 7 to 12 degrees, up to 16 along the coast, and around 8 in Sofia. Highs will reach 17 to 22 degrees, around 17 in Sofia.

Skies stay cloudy over the sea, with drizzle in places. Winds there are also moderate from the north-northeast, strong at times. Highs along the coast will be between 21 and 23 degrees, with sea temperatures also between 21 and 23. Waves will reach 3 to 4 on the scale.

Clouds cover the mountains too, hiding the peaks. Rain falls mainly in the eastern ranges, with snow above 2,000 metres. Winds blow moderate, strong in places, from the east-northeast. At 1,200 metres the high will be around 12 degrees, and at 2,000 metres around 4.

On Sunday the rain stops in most of the country, and the clouds break up and ease off for a while. Eastern and mountain areas stay cloudier, though, with more rain in spots — mostly in the far southeast, where a moderate northeast wind blows.

On Monday the northeast wind picks up again over eastern Bulgaria. Many areas stay cloudy, with more rain in the eastern half of the country and in the mountains. Temperatures barely change — lows between 7 and 12 degrees, highs between 17 and 22.
