Mitov to Radev: Do not confuse peace with capitulation

GERB Deputy Chairman Daniel Mitov addressed sharp criticism toward the position of President Rumen Radev regarding Bulgaria's role in European security. According to Mitov, the refusal to participate in the "coalition of the willing" is a dangerous signal that calls into question the country's loyalty to NATO and the EU.

"I would like for us not to confuse peace with capitulation. Weakening the positions of the defending side does not contribute to peace, but rather encourages the aggressor," stated Mitov.

The risk of international isolation

According to the MP, Radev's attempt to balance between the consensus within NATO and his domestic political messages is a tactic that will inevitably lead to the isolation of Bulgaria. Mitov emphasized that the country must be "at the table where decisions are made" instead of withdrawing from the processes that define the future security architecture in Europe.

The refuted "wrong hypothesis"

Mitov commented that Radev is guided by the conviction that Russia will inevitably win in Ukraine. "Reality has been refuting this hypothesis for four years now. Ukraine has preserved its statehood, and not one of the strategic Russian goals has been achieved," he asserted.
