More than 7,200 of the 12,800 voting machines have been repaired, and the rest will be done by Thursday, Central Election Commission (CIK) spokeswoman Stoyanka Balova said. The machines will be used in the presidential election on 25 October 2026.
This follows our earlier report that CIK set aside more than €10m to maintain and repair the machines.
The commission held its briefing at the Cargo Partners warehouse, where the machines are stored. Journalists saw them being prepared and installed. All of them are now going through a full diagnostic check.
"This Thursday we expect all machines to be ready for voting," Balova said. She said the work is moving fast and follows the plan and the guidelines.
Some machines broke down at past elections. Balova said last year the previous CIK members checked them together with the Ministry of e-Government, but they were not repaired until the public procurement began.
CIK is monitoring the work, and a commission expert records every repair in a log. "We know at every moment which machine, with what number, what repair was done and which part was replaced, if that was needed," Balova added.

7200 машини, а? и кво, останалите ще ги оправим с малко лед и ентусиазъм ли? пък че са обещали до четвъртък... абе, помните ли как ни обещаваха магистрала тракия да е готова? все пак, важното е да има избори, нали така.
