No concerns regarding machine voting

The Central Election Commission (CEC) does not expect any issues with machine voting in the upcoming presidential elections. The commission's spokesperson, Stoyanka Balova, clarified that in polling stations with over 300 voters, which total around 9,400, the technology will be implemented in accordance with established practice.

The debate regarding the security of the machines is political rather than technical, the CEC maintains.

Technical preparation and security

Repairs on the necessary technical parts—printers, displays, and other components—are currently underway. A working group is overseeing the commissioning process, and an inquiry has been sent to the supplier.

Triple-check system

  • Display selection: The voter sees their vote on the screen.
  • Control receipt: A paper document that confirms the voter's choice.
  • Machine protocol: Data is recorded on a flash drive and cross-checked at the computing centers of the district election commissions.

In addition to technical preparation, the CEC is planning in-person training for members of the district election commissions to improve the efficiency of the electoral process.
