Skies are cloudy across Bulgaria today, with the most rain in the east. The southern Black Sea coast can expect a lot of rain until noon, at times heavy. The warning comes from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).

Rain will fall almost without a break until evening in the east and in parts of the mountains. It will pour in places in the morning and until noon. By early evening it will stop almost everywhere.

Winds are light in most of the country. Only in the east and along the coast is there a moderate to strong wind from the north-northeast, which eases by early evening.

Rain continues along the Black Sea coast. Daytime temperatures are 12C to 14C. The sea is 16-17C, with waves of 3-5 on the scale.

The lowest temperatures are 5C to 11C, with about 5C in Sofia. Highs will be 8C to 15C, with about 8C in the Sofia area.

Cloud covers most of the mountains. In the ranges of eastern Bulgaria and in places in the Rila and Pirin mountains, rain will go on through the day, with snow on higher ground. The wind is moderate to strong, from the north-northeast. At 1,200m above sea level the thermometer shows about 6C, and at 2,000m it falls to around zero.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy, with showers mainly in the mountains of western Bulgaria. The wind eases and blows from the northwest, and from the north along the Black Sea coast. Lows will be 4C to 9C and highs 9C to 14C.

From Friday the clouds break up, and many areas will be mostly sunny.

On Saturday and Sunday the mountains will see sun, while lowlands and valleys will have fog or low layered cloud until noon. The wind will ease, and on Sunday most of the country will have almost no wind. Morning temperatures fall close to zero, while daytime temperatures hardly change.
