Tsarevo: Residents Urged to Leave Homes Due to Flooding

Residents of the flood-threatened areas in Tsarevo municipality have received a categorical call to leave their homes by Thursday, in response to an expected deterioration of the meteorological situation in the coming days. The announcement, issued by the Municipal Headquarters, underscores the seriousness of the situation and the need for immediate action to protect the population.

A tense atmosphere prevails in the municipal administration building. Employees are constantly receiving calls and coordinating their actions. It is expected that the BG-Alert early warning system will be activated today, which will disseminate an official message about dangerous weather. It is clear that a critical period is ahead for the area.

For those who do not have the possibility of independent accommodation, the municipality offers support in the form of temporary shelter. This is a key measure to ensure safety for the most vulnerable residents.

Parallel to the evacuation measures, the Municipal Headquarters is also taking action to establish the causes of the floods. A request to the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) aims to form an expert commission. This commission will be tasked with analyzing the causes of the heavy water overflows, starting from rivers and dry ravines, which are flooding the populated areas. Special attention will be paid to specific areas, including Lozenets, Arapya, the Tsarevo Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Cherna River, and the Nestinarka River.

The Municipality is also issuing a warning about potential additional measures. In case of a further deterioration of the situation, non-school days will be announced for all schools and kindergartens in the region starting tomorrow. This decision reflects the desire to ensure the safety of children and educational staff.

The call to citizens is categorical: to avoid unnecessary outdoor outings and to refrain from dangerous actions such as crossing bridges and water bodies, especially at increased water levels. In this regard, an incident from the night of October 3 is recalled, when firefighters prevented an incident with a person who was on a flooded bridge structure.
