Tsarevo: Calm Night After Flood, Decisions Ahead

The night in Tsarevo passed peacefully, marking a pause after the severe trials of yesterday's water disaster. Several duty teams remained on the ground during the dark hours, monitoring the situation.

This morning, the crisis headquarters will convene in the city. Important decisions are expected to be made, including the opening of some of the closed roads. The decision will be of key importance for the restoration of the normal rhythm of life in the region.

The mayor of the municipality, Marin Kirov, shared details of the measures taken with BNT. "The bridge on the road between Arapya and Lozenets and the bridge on Nestinarka are structurally sound and people can use them," he said. "From now on, cleaning of all populated areas, preparation of correspondence to the International Commission on Disasters and Accidents, again submitting objects that we have submitted before, but which have not been financed, so that in the short term we can restore Tsarevo from the disaster again".

The situation in Tsarevo is under control, but local residents remain cautious. The upcoming bad weather next week causes concern. The road from Tsarevo to Malko Tarnovo remains closed after the bridge after the village of Izgrev collapsed. The construction of a bypass road is forthcoming.

Mayor Kirov emphasizes that the destruction is the result of the enormous amount of water. According to the final data, 450 liters of rain per square meter fell in the village of Izgrev.

"A huge amount of water, which this time didn't even go through the river. On the main road, trees were dragged from Izgrev to Tsarevo along the republican road. This is the main reason. The municipality will once again prepare documentation and a project to be submitted to the Disaster and Accident Commission for the correction of this river. Because immediately after the disaster in 2023, we did it, but it did not receive funding. Now there are political reasons", Kirov emphasized.

The mayor expressed hope that this time the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Interior will take seriously the restoration of Tsarevo and Nessebar after the water elements.
