Burgas joined the ninth edition of the all-Ukrainian memorial marathon "I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine" today, August 29, 2026. The sports event honored the memory of the Ukrainians who lost their lives in the fight for their homeland's independence, taking place simultaneously in many locations around the world and in Bulgaria.

In the seaside city, runners started at exactly 09:00 AM. The area of the Pantheon in the Sea Garden was designated as the starting and finishing point of the route. In addition to Burgas, the memorial event was organized in parallel in the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv.

The Municipality of Burgas, in cooperation with the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in the city, took charge of organizing the initiative. Everyone wishing to pay tribute to the fallen heroes had the opportunity to join for free, with registration taking place on-site immediately before the start.

The sports event was held under the motto "We run for those who gave their lives for us".
