On May 24, 2025, Burgas became the host of the largest and most colorful procession dedicated to the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, enlightenment, and culture. A record-breaking 17,000 children, students, university students, clergy, and cultural figures from 34 kindergartens, 45 schools, all universities and academic branches in the city, as well as foreign students, participated in the celebratory procession through the central streets of Burgas.
The procession was led by an icon and a portrait of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, followed by students carrying the letters of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabets. Guard formations, brass bands, and majorette student groups also participated, contributing to the festive atmosphere. The procession started from the "Troyka" Square and passed through "Aleksandrovska" Street, "Aleko Bogoridi" Street, and the Balustrade to the "Morsko Casino" Cultural Center, where the students laid flowers at the monuments of the National Revival figures.
The celebratory program continued with a blessing and prayer, led by Metropolitan Arseniy of Sliven, and a solemn concert with the participation of children's and student ensembles. At the Burgas Artists' Association, the traditional exhibition "May 24" was opened, where the "Young Artist of the Year" award will be presented.
The Burgas Municipality expressed gratitude to all educational institutions, cultural organizations, and participants who contributed to creating the festive atmosphere.
