Bulgarian School in Athens Receives Prestigious Awards from National Children's Festival

Talented students of the Bulgarian Sunday School "St. Cyril and Methodius" in the Greek capital achieved a remarkable success in a prestigious national children's festival dedicated to Bulgarian traditions and art.

Mei Kukoli, a student from the educational center, won first prize in the drawing competition "Traditions, Colors, Beauty in Bulgarian Rugs and Carpets". The event is part of the sixth edition of the forum "Traditions, Colors, Beauty Through the Eyes of Our Children", which takes place at the Etar Museum.

The festival organizers are representatives of the "Miki Maus" Kindergarten from Gabrovo. This year's edition attracted an impressive number of participants – a total of 257 works from three countries: Bulgaria, Spain, and Greece. Out of all the received drawings, 43 were selected and exhibited on the porch of the Tabashka House.

In parallel with the individual distinction, the "St. Cyril and Methodius" school received an honorable mention in the category of folk jokes and witticisms. This success further reinforces the reputation of the educational center as a place for preserving Bulgarian culture abroad.

The school offers diverse educational opportunities for children from preschool age to 12th grade. The training includes Bulgarian language and literature, history and geography of Bulgaria, and is conducted both in-person and remotely.

In addition to the mandatory curriculum, students have access to extracurricular activities – fine arts, folk dances, and artistic speech. At the end of their studies, students can certify their Bulgarian language skills through an exam at Sofia University.
