The Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev presented certificates to junior diplomats from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Iraq, participants in the first training visit for junior diplomats from the Middle East region, organized by the Diplomatic Institute. The Minister emphasized the importance of establishing diplomatic contacts and friendships between countries, as well as the role of interfaith dialogue and social harmony for stability and unity.

At a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended by the trainees from the 19th class "Dr. Georgi Valkovich", Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev presented certificates of participation in the training of young foreign diplomats from the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Iraq.

In his welcome speech, Minister Georgiev emphasized that in a world torn by conflicts, Bulgaria creates connections - a foundation for peace. He noted that like the Middle East, the Balkans and Eastern Europe are also complex regions where history sometimes weighs heavily. That is why he praised the Diplomatic Institute for the idea of establishing such contacts and turning them into a stable foundation for future friendship, diplomatic relations and cooperation.

The purpose of the organized visit was to deepen the established cooperation with diplomatic institutes and academies from the Middle East, to present the priorities of Bulgarian foreign policy, the historical and cultural heritage of the country, as well as to emphasize the importance of interfaith dialogue and social harmony for stability and unity in Bulgarian society.

As part of the program, junior diplomats from the Middle East had the opportunity to exchange expertise with their Bulgarian colleagues, participate in a round table on regional issues and visit Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture for 2019.
